Training-the-trainer

Training-the-trainer

Capacity building is a key element for the results of the industries we operate in. Whether this reflects on the maritime sector, ports and terminals or logistics. From pre-vocational to vocational and higher education we support this capacity building on different levels. At all our (related) branch offices, we can support by training staff for the functions they have in the field of operation. High volumes and language barriers sometimes create challenges for training all staff by ourselves.

For that, we developed train-the-trainer programmes to support our clients and partners in training their staff on approved and proven didactical and practical processes for knowledge and skills developmnt. This way we can support the way forward for a country, region or company without being present at all times.

Consultancy

Consultancy

Developments in the world we operate in change over time. Some fast, some at a more modest velocity. Investments in this highly capital demanding industry (can) have a long-term effect on the progress for investors and governments. In order to take the right steps forward to a clear strategic vision, providing an outlook for the future is crucial to success.

Our long-standing track record in the world (where we follow the global trade routes) with consultants that possess a theoretical and practical expertise on the highest level, guarantees an objective view on the topics presented to us. We aim for the best possible outcome for all stakeholders involved. It’s here where the golden triangle of public private partnership and education/research comes together.

Innovation & Research

Innovation & Research

Being a member of STC Group has significant advantages. For educational purposes, we can lean on our own innovation centre. This innovation centre is fuelled by the input of the students that relevant universities have delivered. With the drive to shape the future, this innovation centre actively takes the right steps into the future.

For our customers and collaboration partners it means that the innovation and research labs are available to innovate and provide knowledge and skills for the world of tomorrow, taken into consideration the local context of the region we are operating in. As an example, we foresee that virtual reality will play a significant role in the near future when it comes to training and expertise around the world.

Recruitment, Assessment & Selection support

Recruitment, Assessment & Selection support

Investments in human capital come with a bigger risk than investments in hardware, where technical specifications can predict the requested output. Human resources play a vital role in the maritime and logistic world. Although automation steadily progresses in the industry, the human factor provides the success or fail ratio of hardware investments. How can you select the best possible staff for the wanted outcome of your processes. What characteristics play a role in selecting staff (for now and the near future), which people have the potential to bring the organisation to a higher level and are team players to achieve it?

Our global expertise can assist you in making the right decisions in the HR process. Where machinery is operational after pushing the start button, humans have a longer start-up time. In order to decrease this human start up time, the right selection process can avoid a loss of crucial time needed to achieve your goals.

Management

Management

The embedding of quality knowledge, skills and competences into a local context takes perseverance. Having to balance culture and local context with national and international legislation and linking those to world-class best practices is always an interesting act.

We have had the privilege to accept a number of these challenges. A wide variety of activities from whitelisting countries or legislative review for the International Maritime Organization, to managing educational institutions and (simulator) training centres have been placed under our wings. With modest but appropriate pride we can state that these ventures have proven successful.

Simulator Centres and Practical Training Facilities

Simulator Centres and Practical Training Facilities

One of our strong beliefs is that training in a simulator environment is highly beneficial. Avoiding production loss and safety and capital risks related to people and investments while saving time, provide valuable advantages. The ability to modify environmental conditions and circumstances allows for high quality training and applied research. Our simulator park in Rotterdam is the largest in the maritime and logistics industry. Our park consists of ship’s bridge simulators, tug boat simulators, engine room simulators, inland barge simulators, crane simulators and dredging, supply chain and rail simulators.

Next to an extensive simulator park, STC International offers a range of practical training facilities including training vessels, an engine room, a high voltage laboratory and a fire & safety training center.

We have the privilege to support our clients with the setup, development and operation of simulator centres and practical facilities on various locations around the globe.
